Athens – Doctors of the World (MdM) with the support of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Athens introduce a new program to respond to the ever-increasing needs of the migrants hosted in open accommodation centers in mainland Greece, as well as to enhance the capacity of the professionals dealing day by day with the needs of the migrant population.
The program “Capacity building to raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health (SRH)” aims to support the above mentioned beneficiaries and professionals by offering them tailored made trainings by experts (doctors and nurses) on sexual and reproductive health issues (e.g. sexual transmitted diseases, family planning, contraception etc.). The training will focus on extremely vulnerable categories of the migrant population hosted in two different type of accommodation facilities: women and families hosted in the open accommodation centers in the mainland and hotels for the temporary accommodation of unaccompanied minors (UAMs).
The objective is to increase capacity building by giving adequate training to at least 80 professionals and 280 beneficiaries who will also act as a multiplier to raise awareness on the issue of sexual and reproductive health. The duration of the program is six months (February to July 2019) and is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
