Every Easter, children and adults alike hold candles…something that could mean a lot more if it helped save a child.This year, Doctors of the World are launching a new series of handmade candles for children…and for those who feel like children, all made by volunteers.

All Médecins du Monde members are invited to Regular Annual General Meeting and Elections for the selection of new Board Members and Auditing Committee, at 10:30AM, on Sunday, March 24th, 2013 in the Amphitheater of NIMITS Hospital (10 Moni Petrakis Street, in Athens).

In these days of unprecedented economic and social crisis, which leads to steep rise of xenophobic and racist phenomena, Médecins du Monde and the Greek Council for Refugees join their forces in the implementation of the program called “ENOUGH!” The program is supported by the Open Society Foundations as part of the Fund to Counter Xenophobia. The aim of the program is to sensitize and inform the public about: the pernicious repercussions of racism; the need to combat racist crimes; the need to end impunity for perpetrators of such crimes; and the protection of victims. It is also aimed at promoting all necessary actions that will help adopt an official National Strategy in the combating of this phenomenon, as well as to push for the elaboration of a National Review amongst other actions.

MdM’s Report on the Homeless Population, in Sight of Rough Weather Conditions, as part of the Action Plan of  the Athens Municipality Reception and Solidarity Center (KYADA) and NGOsAs a continuation to their Homeless Mobile Unit action, Médecins du Monde inform homeless people who turn to MdM Clinics, as well as individuals they track down with their Mobile Medical Unit, about the Friendship Clubs where homeless people can find temporary shelter during the expected inclement weather conditions.

Médecins du Monde appeal for volunteer doctors of all disciplines, yet mainly cardiologists, ophthalmologists, pediatricians, general practitioner, gynecologists and dermatologists who are willing to offer their medical services at the Open Polyclinics of Médecins du Monde or to man the Medical Mobile Units in missions within Greece.
