Médecins du Monde’s Dormitory for the Homeless in Latest News

 The Homeless – A dramatically increasing population groupIn February 2012, Médecins du Monde started a research project, carried out through welfare workers, in an effort to count the homeless population of downtown Athens and Piraeus. In total, 200 individuals were recorded as homeless, of which 50 people in Athens and 150 in Piraeus. That was when the MdM Mobile Medical Unit started visiting the homeless twice a week. The goal of the program was to provide primary health care, social and psychological support services, and light meals. The program is carried out up  until today with visits on a twice a month basis, while it is being expanded to other areas.
