Médecins du Monde Greece today sent humanitarian aid to the people affected by the deadly floods in the Thessaly Region. The first large shipment of essentials was delivered in Karditsa for the affected communities of the Municipality of Palamas and more are expected to follow, as many as needed until the needs of our flood-affected fellow human beings are met.

This first major MdM relief mission consists of the delivery of 35 pallets containing personal protective equipment, food, personal hygiene products and bottled water, cleaning and disinfecting supplies, as well as direct delivery of material aid by MdM teams to schools in the region and to affected people who cannot move or are in inaccessible areas.

MdM Greece for the 20th consecutive day continues to actively help the affected people of the wider region of Thessaly, offering support and assistance to the residents, who are experiencing extreme living conditions.

Flood victims need multi-faceted care not only now but also in the months to come as they face complex problems affecting their health and psychosocial situation while the weather conditions deteriorate.

The catastrophic effects of floods on human health are complex, increasing the vulnerability of population groups such as children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

MdM Greece has been at the side of the affected people from the very first moment, showing its solidarity with the inhabitants of Thessaly.
