Médecins du Monde continues to support displaced people from Ukraine, completing 85 days of action on the country’s western border with Romania and within Greece, where more than 26,000 internationally displaced people have fled to date.

The 7th mission was completed on 17 May 2022, with the safe distribution of health material to 5 local hospital structures within the Chernivtsi District, following the mission of 27 April, during which material aid was delivered to 2 more local medical structures. The 7th and most recent mission was carried out with the support of Americares and in collaboration with Odyssea, which provided an equipped Medical Mobile Unit to serve the MdM purposes.

Meanwhile, Médecins du Monde continues to operate first aid clinics in Siret and Suceava, where displaced people from Ukraine are entering every day seeking protection within the European Union.

At the same time, in Greece, Médecins du Monde are hosting in their housing programmes those in need of shelter, while in their Open Polyclinics in Athens and Thessaloniki they offer psychosocial and material assistance (food kits to cover basic needs). Finally, through the daily operation of the Help Desk they assist Ukrainian refugees in need of assistance including liaison, interpretation and orientation. To date, more than 1,700 refugees in Athens and Thessaloniki have been supported through the Help Desk services, of which 632 are minors.

Already counting more than 80 days of continuous operation in support of the Ukrainian people, Médecins du Monde will continue their daily interventions for as long as needed.
