Several areas are in a state of emergency due to the severe storm “Daniel”. The dimensions of the severe weather affecting the country are unprecedented. The agony for the missing is growing, while dramatic rescues are being carried out with difficulty. The number of people who have lost their lives or are still trapped cannot currently be estimated. Large areas in Thessaly remain without electricity and water, and thousands of properties have been lost.

MdM Greece stands by the side of the flood victims and assists in coordination with the competent authorities. MdM teams of qualified professionals and volunteers are on their way to assist in the relief and support efforts of the affected people as rescue operations continue and entire villages are under water.

The extent of the needs of those affected by the devastating floods is already enormous and is expected to increase dramatically when the weather breaks.
