The 20th humanitarian aid shipment to Ukraine by Médecins du Monde

Médecins du Monde is preparing for departure the 20th consecutive humanitarian aid shipment to Odessa, consisting of 22 pallets to support the people of the region.

Médecins du Monde, continuing for the tenth month its activities in support of those affected by the war in Ukraine, is shipping 11 pallets of medical supplies and food, most of which were collected through the kind donation of the Angelikousis Foundation. An additional 11 pallets of food items were collected by the organization “Solidarity for All”. It is worth noting that the delivery of the humanitarian aid is carried out with the support of the European Programme for Integration and Migration (EPIM).

The humanitarian aid will be delivered to the charity Way Home Odessa, with which Médecins du Monde works in Odessa, providing primary health and psychosocial support services to vulnerable groups and internally displaced people.

As we go deeper in the winter, the combination of destroyed infrastructure and the constant escalation of bombing has made Kherson a ghost town. The evacuation of Kherson and the movement of thousands of civilians, including many elderly and disabled people, to safer areas in the south-west of the country, including Odessa and Chernivtsi where Médecins du Monde is operating, is currently underway.

Since the beginning of the hostilities, Médecins du Monde has been offering its services daily to care for refugees from Ukraine, developing important partnerships both in the country and in Greece. So far, more than 16,500 people have directly benefited from the intervention activities of Médecins du Monde, while the indirect beneficiaries are estimated at around 520,000.
