The project “Adamantiada – Initiative for addressing children’s primary dental care in Athens” is implemented by Médecins du Monde – Greece in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens.
Through this project, MdM aims to cover the primary dental needs of children living in Athens. Specifically, a mobile unit of MdM which has been fully adjusted and equipped with all the necessary equipment and material, visits primary schools and performs awareness campaigns on dental hygiene, dental screenings and fluoride ingestions. Additionally, in collaboration with the dental unit of the Open Polyclinic of MdM in Athens, further dental treatment is provided to children who have been examined but do not have the means to visit the dentist. This effort is implemented thanks to the activation and the coordination of at least 50 volunteer dentists, who carry out diagnostic visits to schools, as well as therapeutic interventions in the Open Polyclinic of Médecins du Monde and in the Athens Municipal Clinic.

The project has been integrated in the “Human Resources Development” Operational Programme and is funded by the European Social Fund.
