Bridges to context-related health and mental health services for refugees and migrants stranded in Greece

In response to the needs of moving populations and people stranded in Greece, the current project addresses the main health priorities, as these are currently shaped for camp and off-camp population:

1.CAMP BASED: the provision of needs-tailored health services to camps in a modus operandi that takes into account gap filling, handing over to PHILOS and phasing out the provision of direct services within a 4 to 5 months’ time frame.

The aim is also to support a gradual pre-inclusion/integration phase via collaborating with the Greek Ministry of Health until a complete phase-out is possible by handing over to KELLPNO staff in the camps and integrating the health system in urban area.

2.URBAN: the provision of relevant and needs-tailored health, mental health and psychosocial support services to the most complex and vulnerable cases of refugees/migrants dwelling in urban settings in a modus operandi that links refugees’/migrants’ relief needs to longer term perspectives through the establishment of concrete pathways and bridges with the in-country health services. A case management approach that empowers beneficiaries thus reducing their aid dependency and promoting integration in the long run as a central element of our urban based intervention.

The project’s overall objective is to contribute to improving the health status of migrants and refugees in the migratory process in Greece through the provision of quality health care services and through their empowerment for the independent use of the National Health System.

The project’s specific objective is to reduce camp/humanitarian health aid dependency through lifting barriers to access to NHS and off-camp health care services.
