Health for Undocumented Migrants and Asylum Seekers

The HUMA is a network that consists of 12 NGOs in Europe. The purpose of the Network is to promote equal access of migrants and asylum seekers to healthcare services within the European Union.

HUMA Network members develop activities related to health and migration, aimed specifically at undocumented migrants and asylum seekers. Furthermore, the participating countries implement various projects and campaigns regarding the rights of migrants and asylum seekers on national and European level, contributing thus to scientific integrity of the network. The delegations of Médecins du Monde that are members of the Network were mainly involved in the provision of primary healthcare services and advocacy activities regarding the rights of these populations.

In 2011, the Network published a report with information on the legal entitlements as regards access to health care for undocumented migrants and asylum seekers, in 16 countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Romania and Slovenia.
