IENE6 – Contemporary large migration waves into Europe: Enabling health workers to provide psychological support to migrants and refugees
Within the framework of the Project “IENE6 – Contemporary large migration waves into Europe: Enabling health workers to provide psychological support to migrants and refugees and develop strategies for dealing with their own emotional needs” of the Erasmus+ Programme, Doctors of the World – Greece will partner with five agencies (Middlesex University – UK, Edunet – Romania, Cyprus University of Technology – Cyprus, Kocaeli University – Turkey, Polibienestar Research Institute – Spain) for the creation of a Knowledge Hub (a center for the exchange of knowledge, support, development, and ideas). The KHub will be addressed to health professionals, nurses, and volunteers who are dealing with or will be dealing with migrants and refugees from the current massive waves of displaced people which are reaching Europe and who are experiencing massive traumas and tragedies in their endeavors to flee to a safe and ‘better’ place for themselves and their families.
The KHub will contain useful, high quality information and learning opportunities, facts and figures, policies and legislation regarding migration, relating literature, as well as psychological support tools and best practices, which will help the users improve their skills in providing psychological support and in the same time learn new ways to take care of their own wellbeing. It will make learning accessible in real-time and to the isolated parts of the world, helping fast track the target groups’ response to the emotional and psychological needs associated with massive migration.
The project will be in effect from September 1st 2016 to August 31st 2018.
This project is in line with the Commission’s policy, A European Agenda on Migration (2015), “to manage migration in all its aspects”.
