Within the framework of a recent healthcare provision program, aiming to cover the medical needs of small, isolated Greek islands’ local residents, who lack access to primary healthcare services, Doctors of the World – Greek Delegation have launched, in June 2015, the operation of a fully equipped and staffed Medical Clinic at the island of Tilos, Dodecanese.

The main aim of the specific initiative is to fully cover the healthcare and pharmaceutical needs of the island’s local residents, offering treatment and prevention of at least the same level as provided by the average Medical Centre on the mainland.

Doctors of the World Medical Clinic at Tilos has been staffed with a specialized and doctor and an experiences nurse, while it has also been fully equipped, allowing Tilos’ local residents to perform, free of charge, blood and biochemical examinations, ECGs and ultrasounds, based on their particular needs.

Doctors of the World, through Tilos’ Medical Clinic, have the chance to stand next to every person in need, providing healthcare services, prevention and treatment, without discriminations, to the local residents, as well as the migrants, refugees and tourists arriving on the island.
