The Doctors of the World, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, are intensifying their interventions in the open reception centers for refugees. They create teams of general practitioners, pediatricians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, interpreters and drivers and provide primary healthcare and psychosocial support to the beneficiaries on a 5-day basis and an 8-hour shift per day.

The first of these mobile medical units started operating in Thermopiles in August 8, 2016, the second in Lavrio in October 7, 2016, the third in Oinofyta in October 12 and the fourth in Serres November 4,2016.

From May 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 the mobile medical units are a part of the project “Emergency support to assist most vulnerable migrants stranded in Greece”, which is funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and realized with the support of the International Organization for Migration.
