Towards equal access to health services – Empowering the Roma Community in Thessaloniki, Greece.

MdM Greece in cooperation with the Roma Women Association in Dendropotamos are implementing this project focusing on the empowerment of the Roma community in the area.

During the initial phase of the project, a mapping of the Roma settlement and a needs assessment survey will be conducted in order to identify the needs and the priorities of the community.

The basic aim of the project is to empower the Roma community through provision of information about their rights and how the public administration and health system works. At the same time, capacity building sessions regarding access to the national health system, sexual and reproductive health and empowerment of the community towards social cohesion will be conducted.

Moreover, MdM medical team will visit the camp providing specialized medical care based on the needs of the community.

The project’s implementation period is 12 months and it is funded by Open Society Foundations.
