PHC, SRH and PSS services in Kara Tepe and new RIC Lesvos (2021)
The project titled: “PHC, SRH and PSS services in Kara Tepe and new RIC Lesvos”, is funded by UNHCR and implemented by Doctors of the World – Greek Delegation. The current project started in January 2021 and is on-going.
The Project aims to sustain and increase access to a comprehensive package of Primary Health Care (PHC), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Psychosocial Support (PSS) Services to the refugees and asylum seekers residing in Lesvos.
This will be achieved through the continuation of operation of the PHC, SRH and PSS Services inside the Hospitality Center of the Municipality of Mytilene located in Kara Tepe (KT) and in the new RIC Lesvos (Mavrovouni Emergency Site).
Activity in Kara Tepe Accommodation Center
The project aims to sustain the provision of quality services already provided by MdM-Greece inside Kara Tepe (KT) Accomodation Center as the needs of the population remain high considering that for Kara Tepe, priority is given to vulnerable families or families with specific needs. Moreover, the project aims at the provision of PSS Services in order to offer a holistic support as a package of services in this location. In addition, project personnel will oversee the Quarantine area of KT providing medical screening and support when needed.
Activity in the new RIC Lesvos (Mavrovouni Emergency Site)
The project also aims to implement an SRH response and awareness-raising concerning SRH matters to PoCs residing in the new RIC Lesvos. Taking into consideration the demographics of the new RIC Lesvos, MdM will also provide Paediatric services. Furthermore, MHPSS services which are considered of high importance for the PoCs in Mavrovouni, who suffered the catastrophic fires of 8th September 2020 in Moria Camp, will also be implemented.
