The President of the Hellenic Republic and George Stamatis once again stand by the homeless of Piraeus, along with Doctors of the World – Greece
The President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, along with Doctors of the World and the Dinner of Love organized a street work action at the port of Piraeus, in order to offer substantial help to vulnerable people on Thursday night, in freezing temperatures.
Masks for Covid-19 and personal protection items for the cold were distributed, while the chef of the Presidency of the Republic, Vassilis Bekas, prepared hot meals that were distributed by Mrs. Sakellaropoulou. In addition, Doctors of the World volunteers offered psychosocial support and information on vaccination against the pandemic. The President of the Republic was accompanied by the General Secretary for Social Solidarity and Fight Against Poverty, George Stamatis.
Doctors of the World’s street work interventions with the Mobile Units in areas where homeless people are gathered, are a systematic effort to address the health impacts of living on the streets and aim to protect the right to health for all.
