In 2011, we found ourselves in 90 remote villages of Pindos. In 2012, aiming to spread the message of volunteer work and aid to our fellow man, Médecins du Monde will visit Continental Greece.
Médecins du Monde will give impetus to the collection of food and other relief items that will be given for the support and aid of vulnerable families and citizens in need. After the impressive response to MdM’s appeal for the collection of food, this effort aims to reach out to an even greater number of citizens and to support local communities, outside of the Attica prefecture.
More specifically: From Friday, March 16 until the day of the Delivery event, food will be organised into areas in important towns of the surrounding province, in cooperation with municipalities and members of local communities. The supplies that will be collected will be given to Welfare Services and delivered to the more vulnerable parts of the community in the same area from which they were collected.
Food Delivery Events will take place in following cities/towns:
• Palaio Faliro, Plateia Floisvou (STARTING POINT) 19:00 (Friday 16/03)
• Aspropyrgos 19: 30 – 20:15 (Friday 16/03)
• Delphi 02:00 – 03:30 (Saturday 17/03)
• Agrinio: 15:00 – 16:30 (Saturday 17/03)
• Karpenisi: 00:30 – 03:00 (Sunday 18/03)
• Lamia: 07:00 – 08:30 (Sunday 18/03)
• Halkida: 16:00 – 17:30 (Sunday 18/03)
• Aspropyrgos: 20:00 – 20:15 (Sunday 18/03)
• Palaio Faliro, Plateia Floisvou (FINISH): 21:00 (Sunday 18/03)
This event of Medecins du Monde will last around 50 hours and will take place with the help of 26 4×4 vehicles, covering a course of 1.160 kilometers.
Throughout the route, anyone who wishes keep track of the convoy will be able to do so through google earth and the itrack system that will be in operation.
