Damage to the state. Damage to the body. Damage to the soul. To hurt. To be hurt. As Demosthenes says: “Errors, accumulated bit by bit, turn into all encompassing harm for the city.” Something similar happens in the state of the human body and human soul, where the process of “hurting” and “being hurt” begins with the literary murder of exceptions, pleasure, truth, which is perceived by the subject as self care and utter catharsis. Yet it is those subtle exceptions that protect one’s self, just like cats clean a basement of mice. Thus, the cellar inside one’s self are now flooded with choices, until one slowly loses himself amid the “all encompassing harm”.

Text by author Spyros Karydakis for the exhibition.

METAPolis

A Photographic Group, founded in 2009 by Yiannis Yiannakopoulos and Kostas Kourtidis, that seeks its own transformation of the city, METApolis. A game between the meanings of the word meta (after and abstraction from another concept) and the evolution of the city and its interpretation in the concentration of component parts, namely within the city itself, within all of us. More than the word metropolis.

Starting with photography, the new METAPolis on Aeolus aspires to be a meeting point for artists and audiences. www.metapolis.gr
