To promote a safer school environment
Winter is here, schools have reopened and with them the actions of Médecins du Monde begin, aiming to strengthen and empower the school community for a healthier, diverse and modern school environment.
In this context, Médecins du Monde is pleased to announce the launch of the OP.E.N project which aims to develop a mechanism to assess the need for psychological first aid in adolescent students.
As the coordinating organisation for the implementation of the project, Médecins du Monde aims through its implementation to institutionalise early identification systems for psychosocial problems in the school community, to strengthen the positive interaction between the various actors of the school community and to strengthen and promote psychosocial care policies in the context of the school’s operation.
The OP.E.N project is for professionals in the education sector (teachers, school administrative and support staff) and parent representatives of parents’ associations, so that they can identify and respond immediately to mental health emergencies. The ultimate goal of the project is to create a modernised and adapted mental health first aid tool and guide, promoting a framework for a safer school environment.
Médecins du Monde invites all members of the school community to participate in achieving the objectives of the OP.E.N project by participating in the online activities. To register for participation, contact Elli Xenou at info@mdmgreece.gr or 210 3213150.
The OP.E.N project “Developing a Tool to assess the need for Psychological First Aid to adolescents school pupils” is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union under action KA210-SCH – Small-scale partnerships in school education and supervised by the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY), which has the role of National Coordination Unit for the Education and Training sectors of the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 European programme. The project is implemented by a consortium of four civil society organisations from Greece ( Médecins du Monde – Project Coordinator), France (Syncnify) and Cyprus (Cyprus University of Technology and Citizens In Power).
