Every “Utopia” is always closely related to an optimistic, idealistic, almost impossible and unattainable perfection which, nevertheless, traditionally leads to something feasible and realistic. It could have been either a eutopia or a dystopia, but ours is definitely an utopia because having retreated from a temporal and spatial reality that is not good enough for us, we create our own utopia: the “Utopia” of Art, with the only constants being our Cameras and Light. A Utopia where artists vanish into their own creations, consumed by an obsession in an urban landscape miniature; in a worn out materiality that changes every moment into something new.
The exhibition shows artworks in different Levels thus fostering the illusion of our “Utopia’s” dialectic spirit.
Floor I: Images that depict the urban landscape: a landscape that we create and which recreate us within our own “Utopia” (Entry- level photography classes).
Floor IV: Images that reflect the past and the present making the trek side by side, in an unrefined setting of randomly laying rooms. The photography game is now entirely in your hands for you to discover the symbolic meaning of life in the abandoned places of an “Utopia” whose geography constantly changes (Advanced class II). There is also for you to discover the manifestation of The Subjective as variant effigies of the contemporary personal illusion of “Utopia” (Advanced class I).

METApolis Photo Group
Photo Group METApolis was formed in 2009 by Giannis Giannakopoulos and Kostas Kourtidis. The Group seeks its own evolution of the city, as well as all the bits and pieces that make up itself and its reflection, METApolis. Level I consists of aspiring photographers who have just taken up and they are discovering creative Photography. Level II consists of artists, perennial amateurs, who have been working as a group for the past few years and have been experimenting and discovering aspects of photography under the guidance of their Masters. METApolis is a play between sequential “meta” (post) and “co-referential meta”, it is a journey through numerous “clicks” capturing moments… memories (past), illusions (present), dreams (future) in parallel times. METApolis is us…
