In the scope of “Health for All” program, Mobile Units visit areas in the Greek mainland and its islands offering gynecology, pediatric, dermatology and ophthalmology diagnostic tests to women, children and vulnerable population.
Médecins du Monde’s suitably equipped Mobile Units, which are staffed with thoroughly trained and experienced medical and paramedical professionals, amongst other services, provide: free gynecology medical exam; breast ultrasound; Pap smear; cardiogram; dermatology and ophthalmic examination. Doctors of other specialties are available and various medical examinations are also provided, while patients are referred to ophthalmic surgeries according to patients’ social and financial criteria and degree of vulnerability. Particular attention is given to children’s health problems by conducting pediatric check ups, medical examinations and children vaccination, while children’s medications are also provided.
The “Health for All” program, which last year offered access to medical examinations to more than 9000 individuals in 30 remote areas throughout Greece, is carried out with the full funding from the Association of Greek Ship Owners and is part of a broader initiative pursued by the Greek community of Ship Owners, including actions of social solidarity, for the support of vulnerable social groups throughout Greece.
