We would remind you at this point that the free vaccination program for children that are treated at the Médecins du Monde Polyclinic at Perama, began in December 2011in order to meet the needs of children who  – as a result of the financial crisis –  have been denied their most basic right; their right to access health and pharmaceutical care.

The President of the Board of Médecins du Monde Greece, Mr. Nikitas Kanakis issued  statement, saying: “Thanks to the invaluable help of the YGEIA Group, more than 300 poor Greek children who have been denied their right to basic vaccination because they were unfortunate enough to not be insured, are now returning to school vaccinated. As the state does not ensure basic right for children such as health and vaccination, so does our own sense of obligation to guarantee these basic rights grow. The multifaceted support offered by the YGEIA Group allows us to continue our work.

The Presiding Counselor for the YGEIA Group, Mrs. Areti Souvatzoglou said the following: “For our part, here at the MITERA Children’s Hospital, children are everything. We could not but continue this social contribution for the benefit of children in need, as prevention is worth a thousand treatments. In any case, the children’s hospital of our Group, the most comprehensive tertiary pediatric hospital in the country, in almost ten years of operation, has stood by children and families with respect and responsibility, fulfilling their every need.

The vaccines were delivered at the Médecins du Monde Polyclinic at Perama, Aristidis 5 and Ksenofontos (Tel: 210.44.14.788).
