Having completed 20 years of artistic presence, Active Member now move into their “2nd era” and choose to sing with Greek and foreign artists they love and respect, in the hope of chasing away the darkness.
Is just a feast enough to scare the darkness away from us?
More likely, not.
What’s important, though,is to make a start. The less remorse you start off with, the more likely you will reach the light.
Source of inspiration for this very different concert is a song from their second to last album, “At the Mutes End“, titled “Sing to Us to Chase Away the Darkness“.
As B.D.Foxmoor says”…these last few days of freedom, everyone has been reminded of how much fear darkness harbours, and people have poured into the streets to sing and shout. Yet, the fun was still missing: and that’s what possibly is the major cause for revolution. That’s what we, our many friends and guests are up to. It’s just that, once more, we want you to join us, we think that the time is just right …”
So, on September 4th, Active Member invite in “Technopolis”, artists they respect and would like them to join in their feast.
At this concert, the guest stars’ parts will be incorporated in Active Member’s performance show.
How?
B.D.Foxmoor will write a special, brand new song, for each individual guest star that will be sang for the very first time in “Technopolis”. In addition, Active member will sing together with each guest star a song from the guest’s personal discography, as well as an Active Member song. This alternation of songs, this entanglement: one song from the personal discography of each “guest” friend; one Active Member song; one brand new song for each artist, is the distinctive, unique, unexpected element of this very special concert.
There is another thing, quite untypical of an Active Member concert: Active Member will be accompanied on stage by a band of musicians, as there will also be a string band which will participate in for quite a good part of the program.
Come to sing with us to chase away the darkness, even if it is for a little while.
And perhaps, with such a start, you might not regret you had fun…
Few words for our great guests, spoken by B.D Foxmoor
ERIK TRUFFAZ
The trumpet wizard was born in 1960, in Switzerland. He is a jazz musician renowned for his experimentation with hip hop and rock. Since 1994, the Blue Note artist has produced 18 albums. B.D Foxmoor has chosen him for this music festival because he regards him as”… the best trumpet player alive…”
JAHCOUSTIX
He is a wanderer; a world citizen, who, in 2013, celebrates his 10 years of absolute devotion to music and will be here to play live with his friends, for his friends. He is still the child with the bright, glowing eyes that sings for “…the beauty that is hidden all around…”
According to B.D.Foxmoor “… the global reggae community has found in Jahcoustix its missing hero, a troubadour of light…”
VERONICA HARCSA
The “nightingale” from Budapest, apart from her being endowed with this outstanding voice, also plays the saxophone and the piano. In 2005, she formed a quartet and together they travel around the world. In 2007, she won the Fringe’s Best Voice Award. She has already been in Greece, on two occasions so far, one out of which she and Thomas Siffling Trio were guest stars in Active Member’s concert. Veronica has also participated in Sadahzinia’s latest album: “Sarma”.
ELENI VITALI
“This incredible artist is an accomplished singer with 40years presence in Greek discography. It is the dream of all artists to share with her one creation of theirs. Her voice has a unique way of narrating and bringing back memories. For this and many other reasons, we happened to have found out in the process, we have invited this great singer to our feast“Active Member said about Eleni Vitali
Yiannis Kotsiras
B.D.Foxmoor says”we have asked Yiannis to take part in our feast because we felt that he has just recently embarked on his own struggle to chase away the darkness that surrounds him. With one of our songs we wish him “Till we meet again in favorable conditions”
Yiota Yianna
As B.D foxmoor has phrased it: “She is the most incredible one of all our guests. The Pasionaria of the “Golden Keys”, the muse of folk songs. She is a living legend that shows what does it mean to be a true artist. A great, uncompromising individual we so badly need to have with us that night“.
NIKOS KSIDIS
“The Man-Orchestra” grew up in a music environment and had tormented many music teachers before he realized that guitar is his own universe. “If I had to put in just a few words what do i think of Nikos , says, B.D.Foxmoor, I would chose to tell the story of “a dragon’s journey from muddy India, through the birth land of cedar trees, to his final destination»”. Project A.S.R opens with B.D Foxmoor and (Armat Spina Rosas = Thorns arm roses).
